GATHERINGS at the Engage2Innovate Symposium: Advancing Security Innovation

This two-day event served as a pivotal platform for security practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and explore the latest advancements in security solutions.
GATHERINGS was actively represented at the symposium by members of LOBA and VUB, contributing to the discussions on advancing security research and innovation. Their participation reinforced the project’s mission of fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration and promoting best practices in security resilience.
June 19 – Symposium 1
The event commenced with a keynote address by Nicolas Bessot, Head of Innovation and Security Research at the European Commission, highlighting the crucial role of innovation in tackling contemporary security challenges.
Throughout the day, attendees engaged in insightful presentations and panel discussions featuring experts from diverse sectors. These sessions covered key topics related to security research and innovation, providing valuable perspectives on the current landscape of security technologies and future research directions. The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing complex security challenges effectively.
June 20 – DesignLab1
A key highlight of the symposium was the DesignLab workshop, an interactive session dedicated to human-centered social innovation. This workshop encouraged participants to engage in hands-on activities aimed at developing conceptual models to enhance security solutions. By integrating diverse viewpoints and expertise, the session emphasized the necessity of user-friendly and inclusive security measures. Participants left with a greater appreciation of how collaborative efforts can drive meaningful innovation in security practices.
