The Gatherings Project has established collaborations with several key initiatives:
- S4AllCities (1st September 2020 – 31st December 2022): successfully developed an interconnected system leveraging AI, IoT, and data analytics to monitor and respond to security threats in real time. Focused on creating smart, safe, and resilient cities, S4AllCities contributed to protecting urban environments, safeguarding citizens, and improving the overall quality of urban life through groundbreaking solutions.
- PRECRISIS (1st May 2023 – 28th February 2025): seeks to enhance urban security by empowering law enforcement and public space managers through AI-based digital solutions. It promotes public-private cooperation and integrates best practices while ensuring compliance with ethical and data protection standards.
- CO-SECUR (1st December 2023 – 30th November 2026): aims to accelerate the adoption of social innovations and responsible security solutions by developing knowledge and tools. Through research and collaboration, it seeks to redefine security paradigms, fostering smart communities and innovative, adaptable technologies for public safety.
- SOS4democracy (1st September 2023 – 31st August 2027): aims to strengthen research on the rise of authoritarianism in South-Eastern Europe by uniting academic institutions, civil society groups, and a media organisation. It focuses on enhancing cooperation, facilitating knowledge transfer, and improving research and innovation capacity through specialised training programmes.
- SEREN5 (1st September 2022 – 31st August 2025): aims to enhance and professionalise the skills of Cluster 3 (CL3) National Contact Points (NCPs) across Europe, improving access to Horizon Europe calls and the quality of proposals. It focuses on capacity building, targeted support services, and fostering a strong CL3 community within the Horizon Europe framework.
- APPRAISE (1st September 2021 – 29th February 2024): The project aimed to enhance public space security by leveraging big data, AI, and advanced visualisation while preserving citizens’ freedom. It focused on protecting soft targets from cyber and physical threats through an integrated security framework uniting public and private security operators.
- ICARUS (1st September 2020 – 31st August 2024): aimed to transform urban security policies by integrating 30 years of research and practice into an evidence-based, multi-stakeholder approach. It promoted a balanced vision of security, combining prevention, sanctions, and social cohesion while leveraging social and technological innovations.
- Transcend (1st October 2022 – 30th September 2025): aims to enhance citizen and societal engagement in security research by developing a Toolbox of methods and guidelines for meaningful public involvement. Through pilot tests, it seeks to strengthen civil society’s voice and equip security practitioners to support inclusive participation across the EU.
- Engage2Innovate (1st August 2023 – 31st March 2027): Engage2innovate is a European-funded project that will investigate and address barriers to implementing EU security research and innovation outputs.
